¡Increíble! Estafador de viejitos vuelve a caer por tercera vez
Un hombre de 61 años, de apellido Álvarez Campos, fue arrestado por tercera vez en menos de dos años bajo la sospecha de haber estafado a personas adultas mayores, a quienes habría engañado de manera cruel al cambiarles sus pertenencias por pedazos de gypsum dentro de sobres de manila. Álvarez fue capturado por agentes del Organismo de Investigación Judicial (OIJ) en un allanamiento realizado en su vivienda en Bella Vista de Puntarenas este lunes, tras una investigación liderada por la Sección Especializada Contra las Estafas y El Fraude Registral.
Según las autoridades, además de detener al sospechoso, se incautó un teléfono celular y otros indicios relevantes para avanzar con las investigaciones en curso. Álvarez ya había sido aprehendido en dos ocasiones anteriores: la primera, el 1 de junio del 2023, en Venecia de Puntarenas, por estafas que habría cometido desde diciembre del 2022, y la segunda, en diciembre del año pasado, cuando lo vincularon con al menos cuatro casos en distintas áreas del país, como La Uruca, Tibás, barrio Cuba y Desamparados.
El OIJ indicó que el modo de operar del sospechoso se ha mantenido sin cambios durante más de dos años. Supuestamente, Álvarez se presentaba como funcionario de un programa de ayuda social dirigido a personas de la tercera edad. Abordaba a sus víctimas en diferentes zonas del país, invitándolas a subirse a su vehículo bajo la promesa de recibir ayudas económicas. Antes de hacerlo, les pedía que guardaran sus pertenencias en un sobre de manila, el cual sellaba con grapas, afirmando que así se garantizaría la entrega de la ayuda.
Una vez en su vehículo, trasladaba a las víctimas a lugares cercanos, donde simulaba entregarles la ayuda prometida. Sin embargo, en lugar de devolverles sus pertenencias, les entregaba otro sobre con restos de materiales de construcción como gypsum, haciéndoles creer que contenía sus objetos personales.
El OIJ ha vinculado a Álvarez con al menos 10 causas, aunque las autoridades no descartan que puedan existir más víctimas que aún no han denunciado.
