Hacienda cierra Grupo Extra por retraso en pago de impuestos
Cierre será por cinco días.
La Dirección General de Tributación del Ministerio de Hacienda ejecutó, este miércoles 29 de noviembre, un cierre por cinco días a la Sociedad Periodística Extra Limitada, propietaria de Diario Extra, por el incumplimiento en la cancelación del impuesto sobre el valor agregado (IVA) dentro del plazo establecido.
La noticia fue confirmada por el jerarca de Hacienda, Nogui Acosta, a CRHoy.com.
“Extra debe impuestos de períodos anteriores (antiguos dueños), pero la ley es la ley”, dijo.
Por su parte, Diario Extra, publicó un comunicado de prensa en el que indicó: “Como medio de comunicación respetuosos de la legislación costarricense, acatamos el cierre impuesto por el Ministerio de Hacienda que regirá desde este miércoles 29 de noviembre y hasta el domingo 3 de diciembre. La sanción significa que el diario impreso tendrá que dejar de circular durante 5 días hábiles, así mismo no podrían operar las plataformas tecnológicas: sitio web, redes sociales y Extra TV 42.
“Se trata de una sanción que quedó en firme desde febrero de 2022 con los dueños anteriores, pero que hasta ahora estaría siendo ejecutada por parte de la Dirección General de Tributación. Este medio desconoce por qué la Administración procede hasta ahora, cuando ya han transcurrido 20 meses desde que pudieron haber realizado el cierre. Importante destacar que la empresa al día de hoy no tiene ninguna deuda pendiente con Tributación ni con el Estado costarricense”, agrega.
José Eduardo García, director comercial corporativo de Sociedad Periodística Extra Limitada, manifestó que resulta vital destacar que esta información nunca fue revelada por los anteriores propietarios, sin embargo, “como empresa responsable que somos, lo debemos afrontar”.
“En su momento, cuando hicimos la compra, se creó una reserva de garantía para precisamente cubrir este tipo de contingencias, de tal manera que esta situación no tiene ningún impacto económico para los nuevos dueños ni afectará en nada nuestros colaboradores ni los planes de expansión a futuro que tenemos en la empresa”, destacó.
