Glen, el sueño cumplido de un costarricense en el Ejército de Israel
Joven de 21 años forma parte de uno de los ejércitos más poderosos y mejor armados del mundo.
Pese a que Costa Rica no tiene ejército, algunos jóvenes ticos sueñan con ser parte de unas fuerzas armadas.
Ese es el caso del joven Glen Chaves quien cumplió uno de sus anhelos al ingresar al Ejército de Israel uno de los ejércitos más poderosos y mejor armados del mundo.
Glen, quien actualmente tiene 21 años, se convirtió al judaísmo desde los 14 años. Desde hace año y medio recibe un fuerte entrenamiento tanto teórico como práctico en las fuerzas armadas de Israel.
“Yo estoy en las fuerzas de reconocimiento por lo que mi entrenamiento es un poco más pesado. En nuestro caso es mucho entrenamiento de aeróbicos y carreras para estar en lo que llamamos condición de combate como tener una mejor condición física. Aprendemos primeros auxilios, aprendemos navegación, aprendemos cómo guiarse según las estrellas y según el sol para encontrar el norte, aprendemos lo normal el armamento y también aprendemos cuáles son nuestros valores”, contó el joven.
“Saber de que yo me despierto todos los días hago entrenamiento muchos días pasarlos sin comer, sin dormir, semanas de estar caminando por la montaña con peso encima y todo eso al final no lo hago tanto por mí sino que lo hago para ayudar y servir a otras personas que lo necesitan”, indicó Chaves.
Glen continuará combinando un duro entrenamiento con la mejor tecnología por un año más.
Requisitos para ser parte del Ejército de Israel
.Ser judío o convertirse al judaísmo.
.Tener entre 18 y 22 años.
