PCD decomisa 4,3 toneladas de cocaína, el segundo mayor cargamento en la historia de Costa Rica
La incautación ocurrió en el Muelle Gastón Kogan, en Moín de Limón.
Oficiales de la Policía de Control de Drogas (PCD) del Ministerio de Seguridad Pública (MSP) decomisaron 4,3 toneladas de cocaína procedentes de Colombia. Este es el segundo mayor cargamento incautado en la historia del país.
Por medio de un comunicado de prensa, la PCD, informó que las toneladas fueron encontradas este sábado 17 de julio dentro de un contenedor cuya carga lícita era cerámica.
En ese momento la PCD recibió información sobre la posible contaminación en dicho buque suministrada por la Dirección Nacional de Inteligencia y Seguridad Social (DIS).
En el proceso de inspección realizado por los oficiales de la PCD, ubicaron un contenedor sospechoso dentro del buque Cala Palma, este contenedor tenía en su interior 173 bultos que contenían aparente cocaína y los cuales se encontraban entre la carga lícita que se trataba de cerámica (24 paletas con cerámica).
Esta es la segunda incautación más grande en la historia de Costa Rica. La primera ocurrió el 14 de febrero del 2020, cuando en las instalaciones de APM-Terminals, también en Moín, se decomisaron 5,8 toneladas de droga que estaban previstas para viajar a Holanda junto a un embarque de plantas ornamentales.
En lo que va del 2021, incluido este decomiso, la PCD decomisó 10 toneladas con 698 kilogramos de cocaína en siete contenedores, para el 2020 fueron 16 toneladas con 192 kilos en 18 contenedores y durante el 2019 se trató de 5 toneladas con 927 kilogramos en 10 contenedores; esto en Limón y Puntarenas.
