(Fotos) Escultura de la Virgen de los Ángeles al estilo Shrek desata indignación en redes sociales
La polémica escultura se exhibe en barrio Escalante.
“¡Con La Negrita no!” Eso fue lo que escribió un internauta al ver una fotografía de la escultura de la Virgen de los Ángeles con el rostro de Shrek, el ogro de las películas que es solitario, antisocial, huraño, territorial y temible.
Y es que esa versión de La Negrita desató indignación en redes sociales por la forma en la que representaron a la patrona de Costa Rica.
Pero, ¿quién hizo la escultura, dónde está, y por qué se les ocurrió “disfrazar” a la virgen de esa manera?
Vamos por partes, según informó La Teja quien creó la figura fue Mariangel Cole tras una solicitud de Andrés Murillo, el artista que organizó la exposición.
La imagen llamada “Shrekita” , que es una “cerámica escultórica” de arcilla verde y esmalte de alta temperatura, mide 15×15 centímetros de base y 26 centímetros de altura. Es parte de la muestra de arte llamada “Beyond Shrek”, que se realiza en Sendero, ubicado en barrio Escalante, San José.
En la muestra el famoso ogro es usado como una parodia: “para acercar al público en un evento que invita a la reflexión ante fenómenos y comportamientos sociales en torno a la imagen, la cultura de masas y el Internet”.
Murillo, explicó a La Teja que realizó la muestra para llamar la atención sobre la manera en que se promociona la cultura en el país. Como ejemplo, mencionó la exposición “Beyond Van Gogh”, que tuvo lugar aproximadamente hace dos años en un centro de eventos.
“Me parecía curioso que todo el mundo fue a esta muestra y, en paralelo, se hacían exposiciones en otros lugares y la gente no llegaba ni tampoco tenía el apoyo de los medios ni de la empresa privada
“Muchos artistas no tenemos el apoyo del gobierno. Además, quise cuestionar la identidad del costarricense, cómo la gente se apropia de ciertas cosas que vienen del extranjero y a veces se sataniza el hablar de ello, pero es la verdad”, comentó.
Murillo reconoció que hicieron la figura basada en la Virgen de los Ángeles para “tocar sensibilidades”.
“Puede ser como algo local con lo que la gente empatice”, dijo.
Cuando se confrontó al artista sobre la aparente falta de respeto hacia la imagen de La Negrita, este respondió: “Hace un tiempo vi que hicieron una figura Funko Pop de la Virgen de los Ángeles y a la gente no le pareció irrespetuoso, pero esta sí.
“Más allá de meterme con un símbolo religioso, hago una analogía sobre el culto a la imagen, no me interesa meterme en la religión o en una creencia, es cuestionar el culto a la imagen”, añadió.
La exposición finaliza el 24 de marzo, pero se podría extender el Lunes y Martes Santo. Está abierta a partir de la 1 p.m.
