Feinzaig asegura que el verdadero interés de Chaves con el referéndum es impulsar su campaña presidencial adelantada
El diputado y líder del Partido Liberal Progresista (PLP), Elí Feinzaig, cuestionó abiertamente el referéndum impulsado por el presidente Rodrigo Chaves bajo el nombre de “Ley Jaguar”.
En entrevista con el periódico La República, Feinzaig sostiene que la verdadera intención detrás de esta iniciativa no es el bienestar de los costarricenses, sino una estrategia para iniciar una campaña presidencial anticipada.
Feinzaig señala que el presidente Chaves ha aprovechado los obstáculos legales señalados por la Sala IV y el Departamento de Servicios Técnicos del Congreso para atacar a los partidos políticos y a los diputados que no apoyan su propuesta. Además, el legislador considera que el interés del gobierno en el referéndum radica en identificar posibles aliados y estructuras para un futuro partido político de cara a las elecciones del 2026.
Sobre las advertencias de Chaves de que los partidos que no respalden la consulta popular serán castigados en las urnas, Feinzaig desestima estas afirmaciones, argumentando que la verdadera opinión de los costarricenses se reflejará en las elecciones de 2026, y que todo lo demás es mera especulación.
En un escenario político en el que el multipartidismo ha sido la norma durante dos décadas, Feinzaig no descarta la posibilidad de que un partido político logre obtener 29 o más diputados, pero advierte que esto podría llevar a prácticas cuestionables para asegurar una mayoría legislativa.
Finalmente, Feinzaig critica lo que percibe como una campaña del presidente para desprestigiar a la Asamblea Legislativa, utilizando su control sobre la agenda legislativa en las sesiones extraordinarias para frenar avances significativos y luego culpar a los diputados de inacción. Según el diputado, este es un intento claro de Chaves por desviar la atención de la ineficiencia de su gobierno y consolidar su posición política.
