Los fenómenos astronómicos son un auténtico privilegio para quienes saben apreciar la belleza que se despliega en toda su riqueza en cada evento marcado por la oscuridad de la noche, cuando los cuerpos celestes adquieren un brillo envilecedor y que hace volar nuestra imaginación.
Después de la luna llena que marcó el inicio del mes de agosto, otro evento nos invita a mirar al cielo nocturno este mes: las Perseidas, también conocidas como Lágrimas de San Lorenzo, que conforman uno de los acontecimientos astronómicos más importantes del año.
Las Perseidas son causadas por los escombros del cometa Swift-Tuttle.
¿Cuándo es la lluvia de estrellas? Horario para ver las Perseidas
Las Perseidas alcanzarán su punto máximo la noche del sábado 12 al domingo 13 de agosto, en el que se podrán ver hasta 100 meteoros cada hora.
El pico máximo se dará aproximadamente a las 2:00 a.m. del 13 de agosto.
¿Qué es un meteoro?
Es el fenómeno luminoso que ocurre cuando un pequeño trozo de roca y metal entra en contacto con la atmósfera terrestre. Comúnmente se les conoce como “estrella fugaz”.
