El MOPT advierte que personas menores de 16 años no están autorizadas para manejar motos acuáticas
Toda persona que utilice este tipo de moto está en la obligación de portar chaleco salvavidas.
Con miras al último fin de semana de vacaciones previo a que inicie el curso lectivo 2023, el Ministerio de Obras Públicas y Transportes (MOPT), realizó un comunicado de prensa, con el objetivo de advertir acerca del uso de motos acuáticas por persona menores de 16 años, ya que es considerado legal.
Asimismo, el departamento de Navegación y Seguridad, del MOPT, indicó que este tipo de motos no puede ser utilizada a menos de 50 metros de los bañistas, esto por temas de seguridad.
“La principal norma por cumplir es no utilizar este tipo de vehículo a menos de 50 metros de los bañistas. Este tema es de vital importancia para la seguridad de las personas, ya que una moto acuática podría embestir, atropellar, golpear, con consecuencias fatales, a las personas que están disfrutando del agua, en condición de bañistas o surfistas, siendo la cabeza una de las partes más expuestas al golpe”, indicó Nelson Soto Corrales, director de esa dependencia del Ministerio.
Además, el director advirtió que también es prohibido que este tipo de vehículos se manejen a menos de 30 metros de otras embarcaciones, esto con el objetivo de evitar choques o provocar accidentes.
“Uno de los elementos fundamentales al utilizar estos vehículos es que toda persona que viaje en este tipo de artefactos debe llevar puesto un chaleco salvavidas permanentemente.“A su vez, un tema muy importante, respecto a estas unidades, es que ninguna persona menor de 16 años debe tripularlo, es ilegal. Entre los 16 y los 18 años, el cilindraje de la moto acuática que se puede tripular no debe superar los 400 centímetros cúbicos (cc)” explica el comunicado.
Por su parte las autoridades del MOPT, solicitan a la población dar aviso al Servicio Nacional de Guardacostas (SNG) o a la Fuerza Pública de inmediato, vía 9-1-1, si notan a una persona incumpliendo las reglas de uso de una moto acuática, y que, además, está poniendo en riesgo la vida de otras personas.
El curso lectivo 2023 arranca el próximo 6 de febrero, por lo que las autoridades prevén que para este fin de semana se incrementen los desplazamientos a destinos vacacionales.
