El costo del agua en Cartago podría dispararse un 1200%
Alcalde de Cartago advierte sobre posible aumento del 1200% en el costo del agua
Mario Redondo, alcalde de Cartago, ha lanzado una grave advertencia sobre un posible incremento exorbitante en las tarifas del agua para los residentes de la provincia. Según Redondo, la Autoridad Reguladora de los Servicios Públicos (Aresep) ha propuesto un aumento del 1200% en el costo del agua que proviene del proyecto Orosi I, una fuente vital para la región.
En una conferencia de prensa realizada el pasado domingo, Redondo expresó su alarma ante esta noticia, calificando el aumento como «desproporcionado e inmanejable» para los habitantes de Cartago. El alcalde subrayó que dicho incremento, si se llegara a concretar, tendría un impacto severo en la economía local.
“Este tipo de aumento es completamente desmedido y vamos a luchar para evitar que se lleve a cabo”, aseguró Redondo. El alcalde ha informado al presidente de la República, Rodrigo Chaves, sobre esta situación y ha solicitado la intervención del Instituto Costarricense de Acueductos y Alcantarillados (AyA) para abordar la problemática.
Por su parte, la Autoridad Reguladora de los Servicios Públicos (Aresep) ha desmentido la existencia de una directriz que contemple dicho aumento. En respuesta a una consulta de Grupo Extra, Aresep indicó que no ha emitido ninguna disposición en relación con las tarifas del agua y que el AyA es el organismo encargado de fijar las tarifas vigentes desde 2017.
Hasta el momento, se está a la espera de una respuesta por parte del AyA para esclarecer la situación. Redondo ha solicitado una mesa de trabajo con la entidad para resolver el asunto y evitar el impacto negativo que este aumento podría tener en los ciudadanos de Cartago.
