Avicultores denuncian que el MEP habría pagado hasta $12 millones de sobreprecio en huevos

Mientras un kilo de huevo en el mercado puede llegar a costar ₡1180 colones, el Ministerio de Educación Pública, (MEP), llega a pagar hasta ₡2050. Esto habría generado, costos extra a la entidad educativa de hasta 12 millones de dólares en los últimos 12 meses.
La información la dio a conocer el director ejecutivo de la Cámara Nacional de Avicultores (CANAVI), William Cardoza, al programa Nuestra Voz.
El director ejecutivo de CANAVI indicó que por el regreso a clases presenciales que se dio en el primer semestre del año dos entregas que estaban programadas se suspendieron, por lo que esos huevos tuvieron que salir al mercado para que no se perdieran y se vendieron a un precio mucho menor lo que afectó directamente la venta de los demás huevos nacionales.
En la entrevista, el CANAVI, planteó tres medidas para bajar el sobreprecio del Consejo Nacional de Producción (CNP):
Inscribir más granjas en el CNP
El jerarca de CANAVI comentó que la poca cantidad de granjas genera que estas tengan que producir por 95 días seguidos para poder obtener los huevos necesarios. Esto provoca que a la hora de la entrega, una gran cantidad de estos se encuentren próximos a vencer.
Certificación de calidad de esas granjas
Con este objetivo se busca que los huevos producidos cuenten con todos los estándares correspondientes.
Cardoza comentó que se ha probado que algunos huevos que son entregados a las escuelas son más pequeños, de menor calidad y se encuentran cerca de su fecha de caducidad.
Auditorías con el fin de eliminar intermediarios
La cámara manifestó que uno de los problemas que hay con la poca cantidad de granjas inscritas al CNP es que esta entidad solo alcanza a vender los huevos al 40 % de las escuelas, el restante 60 % tiene que obtenerlos directamente de las granjas, lo que genera un sobrecosto y huevos de mala calidad.
