Vacuna contra el #covid19 podría estar disponible en marzo del 2021
La farmacéutica podría tener unos 3 mil millones de vacunas para 2021, lo único difícil es la distribución.
La farmacéutica AstraZeneca estima que la distribución de la vacuna contra Covid-19 comience a finales de marzo de 2021; además, se encargará de proveer a la Unión Europea (UE) 300 millones de dosis.
Josep Baselga, director del área de Investigación y Desarrollo de Oncología AstraZeneca, dijo que calcula que a principios de 2021 la farmacéutica pueda tener tres mil millones de vacunas y confía que se verifique su efectividad.
Sin embargo, detalló que lo “complicado” será diseñar cómo repartirlas, ya que la demanda será muy alta, así que evalúan que en el primer trimestre de 2021 las vacunas, en caso de ser efectivas, no estarían en “fase avanzada de distribución”.
AstraZeneca espera que para finales de año “una, dos o tres”, de las cuatro vacunas con las que se está experimentando comiencen a dar resultados.
En caso de las vacunas de AstraZeneca prevén que se apliquen dos dosis, la segunda 28 días después de la primera.
“La vacuna ayudará pero no es la única solución»; dijo Balsega, pues también están desarrollando un tratamiento por “anticuerpos monoclonales”, para aplicar anticuerpos de personas que han pasado por el virus a potenciales enfermos.
Por ahora, en el mundo hay 175 vacunas sobre las que se está trabajando contra el Covid-19, 35 de ellas están en ensayos clínicos con enfermos y 10 en su fase final de verificación.
