Una niña de cuatro años sufrió un shock séptico y ahora necesita un trasplante de corazón
Durante ocho meses, Evie Green ha estado esperando un donante en el hospital luego de sufrir un shock séptico. La niña tuvo que luchar por su vida luego de que un resfriado común se convirtiera en una miocarditis, a los pocos meses de nacida.
Cuando tenía cuatro meses de edad, Evie Green, ahora de cuatro años, sufrió de un resfriado común que terminó por convertirse en una miocarditis (inflamación del tejido cardíaco). Desde entonces, la niña ha estado luchando por sobrevivir frente a los diferentes problemas de salud que esta enfermedad le ha ocasionado, como un shock séptico.
La pequeña ha salido adelante con toda su fuerza a pesar de sufrir episodios que parecían ser mortales, incluyendo un paro cardíaco durante una cirugía de emergencia y un shock séptico que la dejó conectada a un ventilador hace un tiempo. Aunque los médicos lograron estabilizar a la menor tras el incidente, la niña se encuentra hospitalizada en el Freeman Hospital Newcastle, en Inglaterra, desde hace ocho meses, a la espera de un trasplante de corazón.
De acuerdo con Chloe, la experiencia fue bastante “aterradora”, ya que su hija parecía estar muy cansada de luchar porque la infección era “realmente abrumadora en ese momento”. Afortunadamente, Evie ha vuelto a ser la misma de siempre y se recupera, mientras espera un donante de corazón que le dé la oportunidad de que su calidad de vida mejore.
Por ahora, la niña debe seguir tomando antibióticos hasta que haya recibido el trasplante, debido al alto nivel de infecciones en su cuerpo. “En realidad, prácticamente ha vuelto a su normalidad. Se recupera muy rápido. No sé cómo lo hace. Cuando está deprimida, está bastante deprimida, pero cuando recibe un poco de ayuda o apoyo, se elige ella misma de nuevo”.
