Trump aseguró que Putin y Xi Jinping buscan quedarse “de por vida” en el poder

Un alto funcionario de Estados Unidos dijo el lunes que el presidente ruso, Vladimir Putin, y su homólogo chino, Xi Jinping, buscan perpetuarse de por vida en el poder.
El subsecretario de Estado, Steve Biegun, dijo que tanto Putin como Xi Jinping «parecen querer estar de por vida en el poder, o al menos hasta que ellos mismos resuelvan partir».
Agregó que el objetivo del referéndum para el presidente ruso de 67 años es «la extensión de su mandato por lo que efectivamente dure su vida».
El caso ruso
Una aprobación de la reforma constitucional, cuya votación comenzó la semana pasada y se extenderá hasta el miércoles, perpetuaría a Putin en el poder hasta 2036.
El Kremlin pospuso con reticencia la consulta, prevista inicialmente para el 22 de abril, debido a la pandemia de coronavirus.
