La Guardia Costera de Estados Unidos evitó la muerte de Charles Gregory, un joven de 25 años, que estuvo perdido más de 30 horas en el mar luego de que su pequeño bote fue arrastrado por la marea el último jueves 3 de agosto. De acuerdo a los padres del muchacho, este “luchó por mantenerse con vida” bajo el inclemente sol de Florida debido a que su embarcación quedó parcialmente sumergida.
“Es un milagro. Hay un Dios ahí arriba”, declaró Raymond Gregory, el padre de Charles, quien llegó a pensar que su hijo no sobreviviría. “Perdí la esperanza. Nunca debí haber perdido la esperanza”, admitió a medios locales.
Durante los casi dos días que permaneció a la deriva, Charles sufrió de fuertes quemaduras, deshidratación, picaduras de medusas y tuvo que esquivar el ataque de tiburones. “Estaba muerto de miedo. Dijo que ha tenido más conversaciones con Dios en esas 30 horas que en toda su vida”, declaró su padre a CNN.
