¿Qué está pasando en Israel y por qué el grupo Hamás inició los ataques desde la Franja de Gaza?
La guerra entre Israel y el grupo palestino militar Hamás ya ocasionó la muerte de 1.900 personas, además de 7.700 heridos y otros miles de desplazados. El conflicto que acapara la mirada del mundo tiene antecedentes que involucran intereses políticos y religiosos.
El sábado 7 de octubre, una lluvia de misiles cayó sobre el sur de Israel en un ataque sin precedentes orquestado por el brazo armado de Hamás. A su vez, el grupo palestino militar envió decenas de combatientes armados para penetrar en el territorio israelí por la frontera.
¿Qué está pasando en Israel?
Han sido 72 horas de caos y destrucción, luego de que los combatientes de Hamás lanzaran el brutal ataque por aire y tierra, y mataran y secuestraran a cientos de civiles y militares israelíes. Ante este escenario, Israel se declaró en estado de guerra y replicó la ofensiva bombardeando la Franja de Gaza, con lo cual mató a cientos de palestinos.
¿Por qué la guerra de Israel y Hamás?
Los conflictos entre Israel y Palestina están lejos de llegar a su fin. Lo que va del año 2023 está marcado por la alta violencia en la región, incluso antes del estallido de la guerra. El número de muertos, entre militares y civiles, en la Ribera Occidental a manos de las fuerzas israelíes es uno de los más altos de los últimos años, al igual que las cifras de israelíes fallecidos a causa de ataques de islamitas palestinos.
Las relaciones entre musulmanes y judíos en la zona del conflicto se rigen por un acuerdo firmado por Israel y Jordania. Sin embargo, las condiciones se modificaron y el lugar ha sido escenario de enfrentamientos entre palestinos e israelíes. En abril de este año hubo al menos dos operaciones violentas y ciento de arrestos realizados por la Policía de Israel.
Gran cantidad de musulmanes consideran que su derecho a rezar en la mezquita de al-Aqsa se ha degradado recientemente debido al avance de la derecha en Israel y grupos extremistas judíos. Se suma al conflicto el hecho de que al-Aqsa se encuentra en Jerusalén Oriental, área que Israel capturó de Jordania durante la guerra de los Seis Días, y la comunidad internacional lo considera territorio ocupado.
