El número de contagios por el nuevo coronavirus vuelve a subir en Europa, advirtió este jueves la Organización Mundial de la Salud (OMS). El ente alertó así de los riesgos que un rebrote incontrolado de la pandemia tendrá en los sistemas de salud del continente.
«La semana pasada Europa registró un aumento en el número de casos semanales por primera vez desde hace meses (…) En once países, la transmisión acelerada ha llevado a un resurgimiento muy significativo que, si no se controla, llevará al límite de nuevo a los sistemas sanitarios europeos», dijo el director de la OMS para Europa, Hans Kluge, desde Copenhague (Dinamarca).
Nuevos brotes
El martes, por ejemplo, Alemania ordenó el reconfinamiento de una zona en la que viven 600 000 personas debido al surgimiento de un foco de infecciones en el mayor matadero de Europa. La sección Europa de la OMS incluye a 53 países y en todos ellos, la Organización registra 2,5 millones de casos de coronavirus hasta el momento.
