Niño que tenía imanes en el estómago fue diagnosticado con una extraña enfermedad
Los padres del menor que resultó con imanes en el estómago ya se habían percatado de que él ingería cosas extrañas, sin embargo, no se alarmaron porque ‘todos los niños se llevan cosas a la boca’.
Una madre en Estados Unidos reveló que tuvo que llevar a su hijo de 11 años al hospital porque se sentía mal. Para su sorpresa, los médicos dijeron que el niño tenía que ser operado de urgencia porque tenía imanes en el estómago, además de tornillos.
Los médicos diagnosticaron al menor con una extraña enfermedad. Se trata del síndrome de pica, un trastorno que hace que las personas, de manera impulsiva, coman cosas que no son alimentos.
Antes del diagnóstico, Shannon Litchfield, madre del niño que tenía imanes en el estómago, en diálogo con The Independent expresó que ya existían señales que indicaban que su hijo podía tener dicha condición, ya que en varias ocasiones lo encontraron masticando cosas como juguetes, crayones, lápices y el cuello de su camisa. “Siempre fue parte de Cameron. Siempre lidiamos con eso”, reveló.
Shannon y su esposo, aunque ya se habían percatado de sus comportamientos, no se extrañaron porque «todos los niños se llevan cosas a la boca». Nunca pensaron que Cameron podía tener esta extraña enfermedad.
Es así que los padres de Cameron decidieron llevarlo al médico, en donde los exámenes de rayos x permitieron detectar que, “había imanes pequeños, circulares y rectangulares. Luego había un montón de tornillos chiquitos en su estómago”.
Informa Todo Noticias que el niño estuvo internado durante una semana en el hospital Randall Children’s, donde apenas podía moverse. Cameron se recuperó después de las cirugías a las que fue expuesto y su madre asegura que su hijo «pudo haber muerto. Siento mucha vergüenza como madre y como persona».
“Me culpé a mí misma. Me di cuenta de que todas las alertas estaban presentes y que debimos actuar antes. Pensé que le había fallado”, dijo. Por eso, empezó a sensibilizar a las personas sobre el trastorno de pica para eliminar los prejuicios de las personas que creen que solo es “curiosidad” y que no puede ser algo grave.
