Murió una elefanta embarazada en India tras ser alimentada con explosivos
Intentó sofocar el dolor en un río, pero murió por las graves heridas: la alimentaron engañada con explosivos.
Una elefanta de 15 años en periodo de gestación murió en el estado de Kerala, al sur de India, tras ser alimentada con fruta que escondía explosivos. El incidente dio pie a una investigación para encontrar a la persona que dio de comer la trampa mortal al animal. El individuo se enfrentará a cargos por crueldad animal, una multa o incluso la cárcel, según los agentes forestales.
El ataque a la elefanta ocurrió en una zona granjera, donde son habituales las incursiones de estos animales en territorio humano para buscar comida. Los granjeros toman a veces este tipo de medidas delictivas de alimentar a los paquidermos con explosivos para evitar que dañen las cosechas.

Respecto a la terrible tragedia, el departamento forestal del estado indio de Kerala se pronunció en Twitter recordando que la compasión por los seres vivos está dentro e la constitución del país, en el artículo 51-A (g). «¿Dónde queda nuestro deber? ¿Y nuestra humanidad?», se lee.
