“¡Lo hicimos, Joe!”: la alentadora llamada de Kamala Harris a Biden anunciando su victoria
La compañera de fórmula del candidato demócrata llamó a Biden para anunciarle que había ganado las elecciones de EE. UU., según proyecciones de los principales medios.
Kamala Harris, la compañera de fórmula del candidato demócrata Joe Biden, hizo historia este sábado 7 de noviembre al convertirse en la primera mujer elegida jamás como vicepresidenta de Estados Unidos, según las proyecciones de los principales medios de comunicación de ese país.
Harris —de 55 años, hija de padre jamaicano y madre india— llamó a Biden para anunciarle su victoria. “¡Lo hicimos, Joe! Serás el próximo presidente”, se le oye decir en una alentadora llamada.

La actual senadora demócrata por California será la mujer que ha ocupado un cargo político de mayor rango en la historia de Estados Unidos, un honor que hasta ahora tenía la presidenta de la Cámara de Representantes, Nancy Pelosi. Harris fue fiscal general de California antes de ganar su escaño en la Cámara Alta del Congreso estadounidense en 2016.
Con una carrera brillante, digna del mejor “sueño americano” a pesar de capítulos controvertidos, Kamala Harris soñaba con convertirse en la primera mujer negra presidenta.
Finalmente se postuló al cargo con la mirada puesta en las elecciones presidenciales de 2024 y la esperanza de romper entonces el techo de cristal definitivo. Harris ya tiene títulos de pionera. Creció en Oakland, donde su padre, profesor de economía, y su madre, investigadora del cáncer de mama, eran activistas de los derechos civiles.
Graduada de la Universidad Howard, fundada en Washington DC para acoger a estudiantes afroestadounidenses en medio de la segregación, recuerda regularmente su membresía en la asociación de estudiantes negros “Alpha Kappa Alpha”.
“Esta elección se trata de mucho más que de Joe Biden y de mí”, dijo Harris en Twitter. “Tenemos mucho trabajo por hacer. Así que empecemos”, agregó la senadora
