Detienen a hombre en situación de calle tras ser acusado de violar y asesinar a niña expulsada de su casa por su madre
La menor de edad habría sido expulsada a patadas de su casa por su madre.
Una niña de 5 años murió luego de ser violada en un campamento de personas en situación de calle ubicado en un bosque de Topeka, en Kansas, Estados Unidos.
El caso ha conmocionado a gran parte del país norteamericano, luego que se revelara que su madre la echó a ella y otros miembros de su familia de su casa antes que ocurriera el crimen.
El presunto autor del crimen fue arrestado este martes y fue identificado como Mickel W. Cherry (25), acusado de asesinato y violación de la víctima menor de 14 años. Actualmente, está arrestado con una fianza de 2 millones de dólares.
De acuerdo a lo recogido por el New York Post, vecinos señalaron que el sospechoso había vivido en algún momento en la misma casa que Zoey, junto a su padre y su hermana.
En esa línea, los vecinos acusaron que la niña tenía una vida turbulenta, dado que la veían a menudo sin supervisión de un adulto, por lo que la comunidad se esforzaba en mantenerla bañada, vestida y alimentada, aunque no asistía a la escuela.
Tras conocerse el crimen, Mickel W. Cherry, un hombre en situación de calle, fue detenido y enfrenta un cargo de asesinato criminal, lo cual permitiría a los fiscales el solicitar la pena de muerte en su contra.
Hasta el momento no se ha fijado una fecha para que comparezca ante los tribunales.
