Deportan a 16 niños venezolanos de Trinidad y Tobago y hasta el momento nadie sabe dónde están
A través de redes sociales, denunciaron que los menores fueron deportados sin tutores en botes y desconocen su paradero.
Al menos 16 niños de nacionalidad venezolana fueron deportados de Trinidad y Tobago; durante este domingo y hasta el momento se desconoce su paradero, denunciaron funcionarios de Venezuela.
De acuerdo con David Smolansky, comisionado de la Secretaría General de la Organización de los Estados Americanos (OEA) para la crisis de migrantes y refugiados venezolanos, los menores fueron separados de sus padres y entre ellos había un bebé de seis meses.
El que también se pronunció sobre la deportación de los menores fue Julio Borges, comisionado presidencial para las Relaciones Exteriores de Venezuela.
“Rechazamos la deportación de 16 niños venezolanos por parte de Trinidad y Tobago, es un acto que no solo viola la Convención sobre el Estatuto de los Refugiados, sino todos los mecanismos internacionales que protegen la niñez”, escribió a través de su cuenta de Twitter.

Además instó al Alto Comisionado de las Naciones Unidas para los Refugiados (ACNUR) y a la Organización Internacional para las Migraciones (OIM) a interceder, pues consideró que fue “un hecho cruel” que no refleja un espíritu de hermandad que tuvimos los venezolanos con todos los que llegaron a nuestra tierra en el siglo pasado”.
La que también se pronunció fue la Comisión Interamericana de Derechos Humanos (CIDH), la cual externó su preocupación por el paradero de 16 menores de edad.
En su cuenta oficial de Twitter, la CIDH manifestó su alarma y mencionó la deportación de “personas migrantes venezolanas incluyendo 16 niñas, niños y adolescentes, algunos no acompañados. Según información pública, estas personas se encontrarían en alta mar y se desconoce su paradero”.

Los menores, junto a 13 adultos, la mayoría mujeres, fueron deportados el domingo al mediodía y embarcados en dos peñeros o pequeños botes con destino a Venezuela, de acuerdo con David Smolansky.
Se esperaba que el grupo llegara a Sucre o Delta Amacuro, en el oeste de Venezuela, pero pasado el mediodía del lunes aún no se conocía de su arribo, agregó Smolansky.
Dijo que a la medianoche del domingo una corte de Trinidad y Tobago ordenó que los menores deportados fueran devueltos y que permanecieran en custodia, pero se desconoce el avance de ese fallo por parte de las autoridades de la nación caribeña.

Por ello, CIDH “exhorta a Trinidad y Tobago a garantizar el ingreso al territorio de personas venezolanas que buscan protección internacional por razones humanitarias urgentes, así como a respetar el principio de no devolución”.
En Trinidad y Tobago se calcula que viven al menos unos 40 mil venezolanos que han llegado desde esa nación huyendo de la crisis económica, desempleo y falta de servicios públicos básicos. El pasado año al menos dos embarcaciones desaparecieron en el mar con venezolanos que iban a ese país vecino.
Ni la cancillería de Trinidad y Tobago ni el Ministerio de Información de Venezuela se han pronunciado al respecto.
