Cuba propone aplicar su vacuna contra Covid-19 a turistas que los visiten
Con el propósito de incentivar el turismo nacional, Cuba propuso aplicar a los turistas que visiten la isla su vacuna “Soberana 02”, que iniciará fase III el 1 de marzo.
Viajar a Cuba podría tener una gran recompensa: recibir la vacuna contra Covid-19 “Soberana 02″ que el 1 de marzo iniciará la fase III de los ensayos clínicos, según informó Prensa Latina, agencia de noticias con sede central en La Habana.
Con el propósito de incrementar los ingresos por turismo, la isla caribeña planea aplicar su vacuna no solo a residentes, sino también a todos los turistas que los visiten.
Vicente Vérez, director del Instituto Finlay, indicó que la vacuna hasta el momento ha mostrado una respuesta inmune y contará con alrededor de 150 mil dosis para voluntarios.
“Igualmente induce memoria de larga duración de esa respuesta inmune que, además de producir anticuerpos, hace que estos duren’, explicó en comparecencia virtual en la sede de la Organización Panamericana de la Salud.
Cuba y su lucha contra la pandemia
Cuba es el único país de América Latina que tiene sus propias vacunas ya en ensayos clínicos reconocidos por la Organización Mundial de la Salud (OMS).
La isla caribeña ha desarrollado cuatro posibles vacunas. Soberana 01 y Soberana 02 se encuentran actualmente en fase de prueba intermedia, mientras que Mambisa está en la fase inicial.
Cuba ha sufrido un repunte de casos tras la apertura de fronteras y ha reportado más de 27.500 infecciones por coronavirus y 216 muertes.
Cuba inició los ensayos clínicos en humanos de una posible vacuna contra el coronavirus el martes (2 de febrero), llamada “Abdala”, que ha sido desarrollada por su Centro de Ingeniería Genética y Biotecnología (CIGB) estatal.
La potencial vacuna se aplicará a un grupo de 760 voluntarios de entre 19 y 59 años en la provincia de Santiago de Cuba, incluidas personas con enfermedades crónicas.
El pasado 5 de febrero, Cuba ordenó un toque de queda en La Habana, luego de que la isla reportara su peor brote del nuevo coronavirus desde que comenzó la pandemia en marzo pasado.
