Cinco niños quedaron huérfanos después de la muerte de su padre después de una larga batalla con el coronavirus. Miguel Plangca, originario de la ciudad de Ozamis en Filipinas, pero residente de Allenwood North en Kildare, Irlanda, falleció la semana pasada a los 55 años después de una batalla de 41 días en cuidados intensivos con el virus.
Sus cinco hijos, Stephanie, Mikee, Michael, John y Chekie, enfrentan la vida sin padres después de perder a su madre, Gilceria, por cáncer hace seis años. Hasta ese momento, el padre trabajaba en Irlanda y los niños vivían en Filipinas. Pero en 2015, los menores se instalaron definitivamente con su padre.
En una despedida desgarradora en Facebook, la hija adolescente de Plangca, Mikee, escribió: «Diste una buena pelea, papá. Gracias por todo. Te extrañaremos. ¡Te amamos!’, escribió. Y agradeció en las redes sociales por recaudar dinero para apoyar a los hermanos y dijo: ‘El amor y el apoyo que hemos estado recibiendo es increíble».
«Gracias a las 2 personas que nos ayudaron a poder armar una petición en GoFundMe y por el apoyo continuo de todos. Dios los bendiga a todos». Durante casi 20 años, el padre de los menores trabajó en una fábrica de la lciudad de Naas y regularmente enviaba dinero a su extensa familia en Filipinas.
El Consulado de Filipinas en Dublín rindió homenaje al padre de cinco hijos y dijo: «Miguel era un hombre tranquilo pero muy generoso, muy querido y que será profundamente extrañado».
La cuenta en GoFundMe insta a las personas a donar para ayudar a los cuatro niños, diciendo: «¡Por favor, sigan orando por ellos y por todos los afectados por la pandemia!»
