China habría ocultado desde 2012 un virus similar al del coronavirus
Lo habría mantenido almacenado en un laboratorio de Wuhan, según una investigación periodística.
Un virus similar al que provoca el coronavirus habría sido hallado en 2012 por científicos chinos en una mina de cobre abandonada ubicada en Tongguan, en la comunidad de Mojiang (al suroeste de China) y habría provocado la muerte de seis hombres que trabajaban allí, según informó el medio The Sunday Times.
Tres de los trabajadores experimentaron fiebre, tos y problemas respiratorios, síntomas compatibles con el Covid-19. Cuatro de los seis enfermos dieron positivo por coronavirus, y los otros dos fallecieron antes de someterse a las pruebas.
El informe también afirma tener pruebas de que el país asiático no publicó abiertamente los datos sobre el virus encontrado a pesar de que podría ser clave en el hallazgo del germen de la pandemia, algo sobre lo que el laboratorio prefirió no hacer declaraciones. Esta información salió a la luz gracias a la tesis de un joven médico tutorizado por un profesor que trabajaba en el área de emergencias del hospital en el que fueron atendidos los mineros contagiados.
Estas informaciones se hicieron públicas poco antes de que la Organización Mundial de la Salud (OMS) entre en para averiguar el origen de la pandemia de coronavirus y corroborar si el virus podría haberse escapado del Instituto de Virología de Wuhan, donde presuntamente se realizaron experimentos de alto riesgo modificando los coronavirus para aumentar su capacidad de infección y propagación para así estudiar los mecanismos que causan una pandemia.
En ese sentido, China mantuvo el más absoluto secretismo sobre este tema, obligando incluso a que todos los trabajos académicos y científicos al respecto tengan que ser enviados a un comité que informa directamente gobierno para que decida si pueden o no ser publicados. Además, Pekín respondió con furia a las acusaciones de que su país es el origen de la pandemia hechas por el presidente estadounidense Donald Trump, y castigó a Australia con impuestos a sus productos por exigir una investigación transparente sobre lo sucedido.
