Asesinan a una mujer trans en el Día Internacional del Orgullo
Eilyn Catalina, de 21 años, laboraba como trabajadora sexual en la ciudad de Medellín, Colombia, pero este domingo fue víctima de un homicidio cuando se conmemoraba el Día del Orgullo LGBTI.
La Alcaldía de Medellín (Colombia) confirmó que Eilyn Catalina, de 21 años, quien laboraba como trabajadora sexual en la ciudad, fue víctima de un homicidio este domingo 28 de junio, cuando se celebra el Día Internacional del Orgullo.
De momento no hay mayores detalles al respecto, pero la Red Popular Trans de Medellín indicó que “fue apuñalada hasta ser asesinada”. Mientras que la Alcaldía de Medellín anunció que “se está en la plena identificación del atacante”, refirió el medio local BluRadio.
Dentro de la línea de investigación también contemplan la posibilidad de que otra integrante de esta comunidad esté vinculada con el crimen. Un politólogo pidió a las autoridades ejecutar políticas concisas para apoyar al colectivo, especialmente a los que ejercen el trabajo sexual.
Que el asesinato haya ocurrido precisamente durante el Día Internacional del Orgullo generó una ola de críticas, particularmente de organizaciones que abogan por los derechos de la comunidad sexo diversa.
Para la Red Popular Trans, un colectivo de personas trans, no binarias y ‘queer’ de Medellín, este domingo 28 de junio “no es el día del ‘orgullo’, no es un día de fiesta, no es un día para celebrar. Nos siguen matando, nos están matando”.
“En Colombia nos están matando por ser mujeres trans, por decidir sobre nuestros cuerpos, por construirnos como mujeres libres. Nuestra identidad nos está costando la vida”, subrayó la Red Comunitaria Trans de Bogotá en Instagram.
Por su parte, Gamboa pidió a la Alcaldía de Medellín que los agregue en sus indicadores. “Nos parece irresponsable que no los haya incluido en el plan de desarrollo. Este crimen es muestra de la necesidad de seguir trabajando”.
