Ya son tres las víctimas mortales asociadas al huracán Helene en Estados Unidos
Dos de las muertes relacionadas con los efectos del huracán Helene, que tocó tierra en la noche de este jueves en Estados Unidos, se presentaron en Georgia. La otra fue reportada en Tampa.
A tres ascendió el número de víctimas mortales en Estados Unidos tras la llegada del huracán Helene a este país norteamericano en la noche de este jueves, 26 de septiembre de 2024. Dos de las muertes se presentaron en Georgia y la otra, en Florida.
El caso de Florida ocurrió en la ciudad de Tampa, donde a un hombre, según información suministrada por las autoridades, le cayó una señal de tránsito mientras conducía por una carretera.
El vórtice de Helene, el quinto huracán de la temporada atlántica, entró en Florida a las 11:10 hora local (03:10 GMT del viernes) al este de la desembocadura del río Aucilla, a unas 10 millas (15 km) al oeste-suroeste de Perry, como un huracán de categoría 4 en la escala de intensidad Saffir-Simpson, de un máximo de 5, indicó el NHC en un boletín especial.
El «muy peligroso» huracán Helene se desplaza arrojando a su paso intensas lluvias y amenazando con «catastróficas» marejadas ciclónicas e inundaciones.
Helene está produciendo vientos catastróficos que se extenderán hacia la costa en la región Big Bend de Florida durante las próximas horas.
«Esta es una situación extremadamente peligrosa y potencialmente mortal», detalló el NHC.
Subrayó que las personas no deben abandonar sus refugios y deben permanecer en el lugar durante el paso de estas peligrosas condiciones.
