En Irak, al menos 32 personas murieron y otras 110 resultaron heridas este jueves en un ataque suicida que tuvo lugar en la céntrica plaza de Al Tayaran en Bagdad, donde se registraron dos explosiones, según informó el Ministerio de Salud.
A través de un comunicado emitido por su oficina, el ministro de Salud de Irak, hasan Mohamed al Tamimi, detalló que el número de víctimas mortales ascendió a 32 y de heridos a 110, en lo que fue calificado por las autoridades como un “ataque terrorista suicida”, en el que dos atacantes se hicieron explotar en un mercado popular de ropa usada en la plaza Al Tayaran.

Una fuente, que pidió anonimato, reveló a un medio internacional que dos terroristas suicidas se hicieron explotar con “un cinturón explosivo y un artefacto casero” en el mismo mercado y aseguró que algunos de los heridos están en estado crítico, por lo cual la cifra de muertos podría aumentar.
Al mismo tiempo, Rasul, portavoz de las Fuerzas Armadas iraquíes, afirmó que lo ocurrido hoy es un “ataque terrorista perpetrado por dos terroristas suicidas que se hicieron explotar cuando las fuerzas de seguridad les perseguían” en la zona de Bab al Sharqi, en el centro de la capital.
El Ministerio de Salud iraquí dijo en otro comunicado que las fuerzas de seguridad aplicaron medidas estrictas en el perímetro de la zona, al tiempo que las ambulancias trasladaron a las víctimas a los hospitales cercanos.
El atentado fue condenado por el presidente de Irak, Barham Saleh, que escribió en Twitter que las autoridades están “plantando cara con firmeza a estos intentos de desestabilizar el país” y atribuyó la autoría del ataque a “grupos oscuros”.
