Policía encontró los restos de una niña atacada por un cocodrilo en Australia

La Policía australiana ha informado sobre el descubrimiento de lo que se cree son los restos de una niña de 12 años, aparentemente víctima de un ataque de cocodrilo en un arroyo remoto.
El trágico suceso tuvo lugar en Mango Creek, cerca de Palumpa, un asentamiento indígena a unas siete horas en coche al suroeste de Darwin. La menor, cuyo nombre no ha sido divulgado, desapareció el pasado martes por la noche mientras nadaba en la zona. La Policía del Territorio del Norte informó que los primeros reportes indicaban que la niña había sido atacada por un cocodrilo.
Después de una intensa búsqueda, los oficiales encontraron restos humanos en el arroyo, que se cree pertenecen a la niña desaparecida. «Esta es una noticia devastadora para la familia, la comunidad y todos los involucrados en la búsqueda», expresó la sargento Erica Gibson.
Aunque los ataques de cocodrilos no son frecuentes en el Territorio del Norte, tampoco son desconocidos. En 2013, un cocodrilo de 4,5 metros fue abatido tras perseguir a residentes cerca de Palumpa. En 2017, un hombre de 54 años sufrió un ataque en la misma área. Más recientemente, a principios de este año, un cocodrilo de agua salada fue capturado y sacrificado después de amenazar a otra comunidad local.
Este trágico incidente resalta los peligros que aún existen en estas áreas remotas y subraya la necesidad de precaución al interactuar con la naturaleza salvaje de la región.
