Fortunas Globales Alcanzan Nuevos Récords Impulsadas por el Mercado Bursátil
Un reciente informe internacional del gabinete de consultoría Capgemini revela que la riqueza global nunca ha sido tan alta, gracias en gran medida al aumento de las cotizaciones en Bolsa. El estudio, titulado «World Wealth Report» y publicado este miércoles, muestra un incremento significativo tanto en el número de personas ricas como en el valor de sus fortunas.
Crecimiento de la Riqueza Mundial
En 2023, el número de personas consideradas ricas, definidas por Capgemini como aquellas con un capital disponible superior al millón de dólares, excluyendo su vivienda habitual, aumentó un 5,1%. Esto eleva la cifra total a 22,8 millones de personas. Además, el patrimonio conjunto de estas personas alcanzó los 86,800 billones de dólares, lo que representa un aumento del 4,7% respecto al año anterior.
Impacto del Mercado Bursátil
El informe atribuye este crecimiento principalmente al desempeño de los mercados bursátiles globales. En 2023, el índice Nasdaq de Estados Unidos creció un 43%, el S&P 500 subió un 24%, el CAC 40 de París avanzó un 16% y el DAX de Fráncfort aumentó un 20%. Capgemini señala que este impulso se debe en gran parte al entusiasmo por la inteligencia artificial generativa y su potencial impacto económico.
Comparación con Años Anteriores
Este aumento contrasta con 2022, cuando las fortunas de los más ricos experimentaron su mayor caída en una década debido a una disminución en las cotizaciones bursátiles. Sin embargo, 2023 marcó dos nuevos récords en el número de personas ricas y el valor de sus fortunas desde que Capgemini comenzó a publicar este informe en 1997.
Distribución Regional de la Riqueza
En términos regionales, América del Norte registró el mayor incremento en el número de millonarios, con un aumento del 7,1%, seguido por Asia-Pacífico y Europa. La fortuna de estos individuos en América del Norte también creció un 7,2%, liderando el avance mundial.
Debate sobre la Desigualdad y la Tributación
El incremento en la riqueza de los más ricos ha generado un debate continuo sobre la necesidad de que estas grandes fortunas contribuyan de manera más equitativa a los impuestos. Dentro del grupo del G20, países como Brasil y Francia han propuesto la implementación de un impuesto mínimo global para las grandes fortunas. Se estima que si los 3.000 multimillonarios del mundo pagaran al menos el 2% de su fortuna en impuestos sobre la renta, se podrían recaudar 250.000 millones de dólares adicionales.
El informe de Capgemini subraya cómo el mercado bursátil ha sido un motor crucial para el crecimiento de las fortunas globales en 2023. Al mismo tiempo, plantea preguntas importantes sobre la equidad y la tributación de la riqueza en un mundo donde las desigualdades económicas siguen siendo un tema central de discusión.
