En medio de los intensos combates y negociaciones para poner fin al conflicto en Gaza, Hamás ha propuesto un gobierno palestino independiente para dirigir la Franja, según declaraciones recientes de Hossam Badran, miembro del buró político del movimiento islámico.
El comunicado de Hamás coincide con la reanudación de las conversaciones indirectas entre Israel y el grupo palestino, facilitadas por mediadores como Egipto, Catar y Estados Unidos. El objetivo principal de estas negociaciones es lograr un cese el fuego y la liberación de los rehenes actualmente detenidos en Gaza.
Joe Biden, presidente de Estados Unidos, mencionó el jueves que se están haciendo «progresos» en las negociaciones y destacó la dirección positiva de las conversaciones facilitadas por los mediadores.
«La administración de Gaza postguerra es un asunto interno palestino que no debe interferir ninguna parte externa», enfatizó Badran, rechazando cualquier intervención extranjera en los asuntos de la Franja.
A pesar de estas afirmaciones, un líder de Hamás reveló a la AFP bajo anonimato que la propuesta de establecer un gobierno no partidista y facilitar el camino hacia unas elecciones generales ha sido presentada a los mediadores.
El conflicto actual se intensificó después del ataque inicial de Hamás en Israel el 7 de octubre, que desencadenó una respuesta militar por parte de Israel. Según cifras de la AFP basadas en datos oficiales, el conflicto ha cobrado la vida de 1,195 personas en Israel y ha dejado a 251 secuestrados. Por otro lado, en Gaza, la ofensiva israelí ha resultado en la muerte de 38,345 personas, en su mayoría civiles, según el Ministerio de Salud local.
La situación humanitaria en Gaza se ha deteriorado drásticamente debido al asedio y los ataques militares, causando desplazamientos masivos, escasez de agua y alimentos. La Organización Mundial de la Salud (OMS) informó que solo cinco camiones con ayuda humanitaria lograron ingresar a la región la semana pasada, subrayando la urgencia de una intervención internacional para mitigar la crisis humanitaria en curso.
