En un fallo histórico, la Corte Internacional de Justicia (CIJ) ha dictaminado este viernes que la prolongada ocupación de los territorios palestinos por parte de Israel es «ilegal» y ha instado a ponerle fin «lo más rápidamente posible». Dictamen de la Corte
El magistrado Nawaf Salam, presidente del tribunal con sede en La Haya, comunicó que «la continua presencia de Israel en los Territorios Palestinos es ilegal». Añadió que «el Estado de Israel tiene la obligación de poner fin a su presencia ilegal en los Territorios Palestinos ocupados lo antes posible». En una declaración oficial, Netanyahu afirmó: «El pueblo judío no es ocupante en su propia tierra ni en nuestra capital eterna, Jerusalén, ni en nuestro patrimonio ancestral de Judea y Samaria», refiriéndose a la Cisjordania ocupada. Además, aseguró que «ninguna decisión basada en mentiras en La Haya distorsionará esta verdad histórica».
Por otro lado, la Autoridad Palestina, liderada por Mahmud Abás, celebró la decisión del tribunal. En un comunicado difundido por la agencia oficial Wafa, Abás expresó: «La presidencia aplaude la decisión de la Corte Internacional de Justicia, la considera una decisión histórica y exige que se obligue a Israel a implementarla». Varsen Aghabekian Shahin, ministra delegada de Relaciones Exteriores de la Autoridad Palestina, destacó que «este es un gran día para Palestina, histórica y legalmente».
Historia de la Ocupación
