En las playas de Queensland, Australia, la diversidad de fauna salvaje a menudo sorprende a los visitantes con encuentros tan extraordinarios como perturbadores. Recientemente, un joven llamado Alex Tan se encontró con una criatura que desafía la comprensión común.
Durante su paseo matutino en Sunshine Coast, Tan divisó lo que inicialmente creyó que era un pez gigante de tres metros. Sin embargo, al acercarse, descubrió una escena aún más desconcertante: un animal con características aparentemente mezcladas, manos humanas, cola de rata y nariz de zarigüeya.
Impactado por el hallazgo, Tan capturó algunas fotografías del cadáver desfigurado y las compartió en línea en un intento por resolver el misterio de esta extraña criatura. «Me topé con algo fuera de lo común», comentó el joven.
Las imágenes del cadáver desató una ola de especulaciones en línea, con algunos sugiriendo que podría tratarse de un canguro ahogado, mientras otros pedían la intervención de expertos como Bindi Irwin. Sin embargo, fue el profesor asociado Stephen Johnson de la Universidad de Queensland quien ofreció una teoría más sólida.
Según Johnson, la criatura podría ser una zarigüeya de cola de cepillo hinchada, cuyo aspecto había sido alterado por las condiciones del mar. El profesor explicó que los cuerpos de los animales terrestres pueden deformarse en el agua debido a las mareas y la acción de los animales carroñeros.
Este extraño encuentro, aunque inicialmente parecía sacado de una película de ciencia ficción, resultó ser un ejemplo más de la sorprendente diversidad de la vida salvaje en las costas australianas.
