Campeón de la UFC condena la muerte de George Floyd a manos de la Policía en EE.UU.
El luchador escribió una serie de tuits para manifestar su indignación y explicar cuán peligrosos son los métodos que el oficial de policía usó contra el afroamericano.
El actual campeón de la UFC en peso semipesado, Jon Jones, se mostró furioso por el asesinato de George Floyd, el afroamericano que murió bajo custodia policial a principios de esta semana, y cuyo deceso provocó indignación nacional.
Este martes, la Policía de la ciudad estadounidense de Mineápolis detuvo a Floyd por sospechas de «fraude en curso». Durante el arresto, uno de los agentes presionó una rodilla contra el cuello del detenido durante al menos ocho minutos, a pesar de que el individuo se quejaba de que no podía respirar. El hombre fue declarado muerto en un hospital.
Estrangulación sanguinea
«Cualquiera que haya practicado los principios básicos del jujitsu, lo reconoce (el ‘blood choke’) cuando ve esto», dijo Jones. «Es tan claro como la luz del día que esto fue asesinato y tortura».
En una estrangulación sanguínea, las arterias y venas yugulares se contraen, cortando el flujo de sangre al cerebro, a diferencia de un enganche de sofocación, que restringe la respiración.
Para concluir, Jones aseguró que en toda su carrera deportiva profesional «nunca había visto nada parecido a ese nivel de tortura».
«Es necesario que haya un cambio de política a nivel nacional. Cuando un hombre está esposado y grita que no puede respirar, quítese de su pecho o cuello. Si no puedes sujetar a un hombre esposado y a tus pies, eres un asco y probablemente no deberías llevar esa insignia», destacó el peleador y llamó a hacerle justicia al fallecido.
