Chaves: “Me encantaría ver que empresas chinas vengan a establecerse a Costa Rica”
El presidente de la República solicitó una conversación con el presidente chino, Xi Jinping, para estrechar lazos comerciales.
El presidente de la República, Rodrigo Chaves, solicitó una “conversación” con el presidente chino, Xi Jinping, con el objetivo de buscar un mayor acercamiento comercial con China.
Durante una entrevista concedida al canal CGTN, perteneciente a la red de canales de la Televisión Central de China, Chaves afirmó que busca aumentar la inversión extranjera directa y señaló el potencial de las zonas francas del país para albergar una fábrica de automóviles eléctricos.
El presidente de Costa Rica expresó su interés en buscar un complemento entre las economías de Costa Rica y China.
“Queremos conversar con el Gobierno chino de una manera estructurada cuáles serían las inversiones que a nosotros nos interesan y lo que le interesa a Costa Rica en el contexto de la franja y la ruta, porque puede haber un beneficio más grande”, refirió el mandatario costarricense.
Durante la entrevista, Chaves también indicó: “¿Por qué China no puede venir a establecer en Costa Rica una fábrica de vehículos eléctricos, una fábrica de alto contenido tecnológico para exportar a los países con los que tenemos libre comercio? Porque el mundo hoy es el valor agregado, ya no es producir cosas básicas, eso no va a enriquecer a las naciones, sino va a ser el valor agregado que está en la innovación, en la tecnología y esas son las áreas que estamos persiguiendo”.
Además, el mandatario expresó su gran interés en atraer turistas chinos a Costa Rica, ya que, aunque muchos ciudadanos chinos viajan al extranjero para vacacionar, son pocos los que visitan este país centroamericano. El presidente considera que existe un gran potencial para atraer a turistas chinos, ofreciendo experiencias únicas y auténticas que permitan a los visitantes explorar la diversidad natural y cultural de Costa Rica.
