El deporte costarricense nuevamente es motivo de orgullo para el país. Esta vez, por parte de las selecciones ticas de porrismo en las categorías All Girl Elite y Coed Elite quienes fueron las mejores escuadras en la competencia y lograron ganar la medalla de Oro en el Campeonato Mundial de Porrismo 2021 organizado por la International Cheer Unión (ICU) el máximo ente en este deporte.
A raíz de la pandemia por la Covid-19, la ICU, decidió que la competencia fuera virtual. Cada país participante grabó sus rutinas bajo la supervisión de jueces internacionales y fueron transmitidas en el canal olímpico el sábado y domingo pasados donde fueron calificadas.
La selección All Girl Elite compitió contra las rutinas de países como: República Checa, Japón, Corea del Sur, Ecuador, Grecia y Eslovenia.
En esta categoría la presea de oro fue para las costarricenses, la de plata fue para las japonesas y el bronce se lo llevó Eslovenia.
Nuevamente los ticos brillaron en su rutina y se dejaron el oro, la plata fue para Japón y el bronce para Eslovenia.
Pero las alegrías no terminaron ahí. Además de las dos preseas de oro, el sábado anterior los integrantes de la categoría Junior Coed Advance obtuvieron la medalla de plata superando a potencias como Canadá, Chile, Nueva Zelanda y Puerto Rico.
“Fue un trabajo arduo por parte de los porristas, los entrenadores, los padres de familia, dirigentes. Es un triunfo para el país, mucho esfuerzo, sacrificio, no ha sido fácil con todo esto de la pandemia, pero Costa Rica sacó la cara y celebramos dos oros y una medalla de plata”, indicó Laura Alán, presidenta de la Federación de Porrismo Cheer and Dance de Costa Rica (FECAD).
Estas dos medallas de oro se suman a otros dos más que Costa Rica logró en la categoría Special Abilities en el 2018 y 2019 compitiendo en el ESPN de Orlando Florida.
