Sancarleño asegura primera medalla de Costa Rica en los Juegos Parapanamericanos
El paraatleta Steven Román ya sumó una presea para Costa Rica.
El paratenista tico Steven Román consiguió la primera medalla para Costa Rica en los Juegos Parapanamericanos Santiago 2023.
En su primer partido, Román quien es oriundo de San Carlos, debutó con un triunfo ante el mexicano Enrique Preza 3-0 con parciales de 11-9, 11-7 y 11-4.
En el segundo encuentro venció al ecuatoriano Paul Polo 3-0 con parciales de 11-9, 11-5 y 11-4. Con esto, avanzó a las semifinales, donde buscará el pase a la final el viernes.
Es importante mencionar que a los dos semifinalistas se les otorga la presea de bronce, por lo que Román ya la tiene asegurada.
Si pasa a las semifinales y obtiene la medalla de oro el sábado, Román clasificaría automáticamente a los Juegos Paralímpicos de París 2024.
