El éxito de las empresas depende de la salud de las personas trabajadoras y no existe salud sin salud mental
Mientras los entornos laborales se recuperan de forma progresiva a los efectos de largo alcance de la pandemia de COVID-19 y aprenden de ellos. La Organización Mundial de la Salud (OMS) y la Organización Internacional del Trabajo (OIT) han llamado a las personas empleadoras a reflexionar sobre uno de los datos más alarmantes que arrojan las estadísticas: el enorme impacto que la pandemia de COVID-19 a tenido sobre la salud mental de las personas. Pues según el reporte de Salud Mental 2022 de la OMS, los trastornos por ansiedad y la depresión aumentaron en un 25% en todo el mundo.
Estas instituciones invitan a las partes interesadas en el sector empresarial a adoptar medidas concretas para abordar los problemas de salud mental en el entorno laboral. A la vez recomienda la formación de los directivos en materia de construcción de una cultura enfocada en la prevención de la salud mental en los entornos laborales. El objetivo es apoyar la prevención de los riesgos para la salud mental también denominados riesgos psicosociales, proteger y promover la salud mental en el trabajo,
El trabajo desde la perspectiva de desarrollo humano da sentido a la vida de las personas, en tanto, les permite desplegar sus capacidades como sujetos activos, productivos y por ende, en su autorrealización y reconocimiento social. No obstante, cuando el trabajo no es satisfactorio o se afrontan situaciones físicas, materiales, ambientales, organizacionales o psicosociales adversas y prolongadas en el tiempo, que sobrepasan la capacidad de la persona trabajadora para enfrentar las demandas laborales, se genera estrés laboral que puede ocasionar una situación psicoemocional de alerta constante.
Para proteger y promover la salud mental en el trabajo hay que fortalecer las competencias encaminadas a que se reconozcan la importancia de promover las acciones al cuidado de salud mental en el trabajo y a que se tomen medidas al respecto, así como también apoyar a las personas con problemas de salud mental para que puedan participar y prosperar en el mundo del trabajo, a su vez las medidas para abordar la salud mental en el trabajo deben aplicarse con la participación significativa de los trabajadores, sus representantes y las personas que han tenido experiencia directa con problemas de salud mental.
