Expresentador de la BBC y pastor evangélico confiesa 40 delitos sexuales, incluso contra niños
Se le concedió la libertad bajo fianza hasta la próxima audiencia
Un expresentador de la cadena británica BBC y pastor evangélico, se declaró culpable este viernes ante un tribunal de haber cometido 40 delitos sexuales, varios de ellos contra menores de edad, a lo largo de los últimos 30 años, informan medios locales.
Benjamin David Thomas, de 44 años, admitió diez cargos de actividad sexual con niños, ocho de agresiones sexuales y cuatro de intentos de cometer una agresión sexual. También se declaró culpable de nueve abusos, siete cargos de voyeurismo y dos cargos de hacer videos indecentes de menores. Algunos de sus delitos se remontan a 1990, pero los más recientes ocurrieron a finales del año pasado.

A Thomas se le concedió la libertad bajo fianza hasta su próxima audiencia en el tribunal, que tendrá lugar el 18 de agosto y donde será sentenciado. El juez Niclas Parry advirtió que, a pesar de su confesión, será inevitable una «significativa sentencia de prisión».
La policía de Gales del Norte, DC Lynne Willsher, subrayó que el delito de Thomas «implicó el grave abuso sexual de niños vulnerables por parte de un líder religioso». «Es una terrible violación de la confianza depositada en él por las víctimas y sus familias, y no puedo imaginar cómo impactó la revelación de su delito en ellos», afirmó.
