Florida batió récord de casos positivos en un solo día y ciudadanos llenaron playas de Miami
A pesar de que el sistema sanitario quedó al borde del colapso, jóvenes y familias aprovecharon un domingo de sol para ir al mar.
Florida se ha convertido en el nuevo epicentro de la pandemia del coronavirus en Estados Unidos. Las tazas de positivos y las hospitalizaciones se dispararon en las últimas semanas y dejaron al sistema sanitario al borde del colapso.
Según datos del Departamento de Salud, Florida batió récord con 15.300 nuevos positivos y 45 muertes este domingo 12 de julio. La cifra total aumentó a 269.811 casos y más de 4.200 fallecidos. Anteriormente, California tenía el récord con 11.694 en un solo día, el pasado miércoles 8, y Nueva York con 11.571 el 15 de abril.
Jóvenes y familias se juntaron en Miami Beach para escuchar música, disfrutar del sol y desafiar al virus. Casi no hay turistas extranjeros y las medidas sanitarias para evitar la propagación del coronavirus quedaron en el olvido.
El rebrote de la COVID-19
Florida permanecía en mayo con una situación controlada y la curva parecía haberse aplanado. Las autoridades del lugar levantaron cuarentena y, a los pocos días, la tasa de aumentos por COVID-19 disparó. Los hospitales de Florida tienen ocupadas un 76,4 % de las camas para ingresos generales y un 81,2 % de las camas de cuidados intensivos (UCI), indicó este domingo la Agencia para la Administración de la Atención Médica (AHCA).
