Trabajó recolectando basura para apoyar a su familia y ahora estudiará en Harvard
Ni la lesión que lo alejó del boxeo ni sus problemas económicos impidieron que Rehan Stanton saliera adelante. Su historia es viral en las redes.
La historia viral de un joven de Maryland (Estados Unidos) demostró a miles en redes sociales que el esfuerzo permite superar cualquier dificultad. Una lesión truncó su sueño de boxear y tuvo que trabajar recolectando basura para sustentar a su familia, pero siguió adelante y acaba de ser admitido en la prestigiosa Universidad de Harvard.
Rehan Staton tuvo una educación sin problemas hasta que su madre abandonó a su familia cuando él tenía ocho años. La economía de su casa colapsó y su padre tuvo que llevar hasta tres trabajos al mismo tiempo para pagar las deudas.
Tras graduarse del colegio, Rehan postuló a diferentes universidades y fue rechazado por todas ellas. Sin mayores opciones, el joven ingresó a trabajar en la Bates Trucking & Trash Removal, una empresa recolectora de basura. La mayoría de sus compañeros eran exconvictos, pero ellos le dieron un apoyo que no consiguió en otro lugar.
Rehan fue admitido por dicha universidad y tuvo un gran desempeño académico. Dos años después, pasó a la Universidad de Maryland y fue luego aceptado por varias facultades de Derecho, hasta llegar a Harvard. Su reacción al enterarse quedó registrada en video.
“Cuando reviso mis experiencias, me gusta pensar que saqué lo mejor de la peor situación”, manifestó el joven, cuya inspiradora historia es viral en las redes sociales.
