Una paciente continúa con síntomas de COVID-19 cien días después de haberse contagiado
Los médicos señalan que lo habitual es que una persona tarde dos semanas en recuperarse de la enfermedad.
Jenny Lorraine es una mujer residente de Texas, Estados Unidos, quien fue diagnosticada con COVID-19 en el mes de marzo. A pesar de mantenerse 15 días en cuarentena como lo establece el protocolo sanitario, la paciente señaló que ya han transcurrido 100 días desde el contagio y aún tiene los síntomas de la enfermedad.
Luego de realizarle una serie de exámenes, se constató que toda su familia estaba infectada, por lo que el médico les recomendó que se mantuviesen en cuarentena. Pero Lorraine afirmó que los síntomas persisten pese que han transcurrido más de tres meses desde el contagio.
“Sentí que me estaba enfermando de gripe y dos días después sentí que me atropelló un camión. Mis oídos no dejan de sonarme, me duele mucho la espalda, como algo que te quema”, dijo Lorraine a NY Post.
Según información de la Organización Mundial de la Salud (OMS), Estados Unidos registra un total de 2,59 millones de personas infectadas con COVID-19 y 128.000 muertes convirtiéndolo en el país más golpeado con la pandemia. Es por ello que las autoridades sanitarias recomiendan el uso de mascarillas.
Un reciente estudio resaltó que las regiones donde adoptaron el uso de máscaras de protección tuvieron epidemias más leves de coronavirus.
