OMS: El mundo entró en una “fase peligrosa” de la pandemia de COVID-19
El jefe de la Organización Mundial de la Salud señaló que los países están dejando el confinamiento mientras el virus continúa «propagándose rápidamente y sigue siendo mortal».
El mundo entró en una “fase peligrosa” a medida que reabren los países que establecieron medidas de confinamiento o restricciones para frenar la propagación del nuevo coronavirus, advirtió este viernes la Organización Mundial de la Salud (OMS).
“El mundo entró una fase nueva y peligrosa. Mucha gente está evidentemente cansada de quedarse en casa. Los países están deseosos de reabrir su sociedad y su economía”, declaró el jefe de la OMS, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, en una conferencia de prensa virtual.
El funcionario hizo esta advertencia luego de que en la última jornada se registrara una cifra récord de más de 150.000 infecciones diarias en el planeta.
“Casi la mitad de esos casos se reportaron en América, con elevados números también en el sur de Asia y Oriente Medio”, detalló.
También pidió a las redes sanitarias que sigan enfocadas en la búsqueda, aislamiento, realización de test y cuidado de todos y cada uno de los casos, “monitoreando y poniendo en cuarentena cualquier contacto con ellos”.
