Un niño de 12 años se suicidó en su habitación tras estar afectado emocionalmente por la cancelación de sus clases en la escuela y estar separados de sus amigos por la pandemia de la COVID-19 en Estados Unidos.
Brad Hunstable, un ciudadano oriundo de Texas y padre del menor, señaló que su hijo no mostraba signos de depresión, pero sí extrañaba su rutina.
Expertos en comportamiento humano dijeron que la depresión entre los jóvenes siempre es un problema grave, y aún más en estos días. “En realidad estamos viendo que los números comienzan a aumentar”, señaló la doctora Kia Carter, psiquiatra del Centro Médico Cook Children’s en Fort Worth.
Hunstable compartió su tragedia personal en un video, que ha sido visto millones de veces. El propósito de la publicación es ayudar a centrar la atención en un tema que generalmente es tabú, según informó NBC.
“Puede sucederle a cualquiera y con el aislamiento social por el virus, cualquier pequeña cosa se amplifica aún más”, aseguró.
Brad creó un sitio web llamado “Hayden’s Corner” en Facebook para llamar la atención sobre el tema y recaudar dinero para una campaña contra el suicidio.
