Murió de COVID-19 el cabecilla del sanguinario cártel de Los Zetas

Moisés Escamilla “El Gordo May”, líder de zona del cártel de Los Zetas, murió en el penal de Puente Grande por coronavirus. Estaba preso por decapitar a 12 personas en Cancún, Quintana Roo.
Personal médico adscrito al Centro Federal de Reinserción Social (CEFERESO) número 02 del centro penitenciario de Jalisco confirmaron que desde el 6 de mayo Escamilla May presentó problemas respiratorios y un cuadro sintomático que concuerda con el del Covid-19. Por tal motivo, el reo fue ingresado al área médica del reclusorio y falleció el tres días después.
No sólo los presos dieron positivo la enfermedad, las autoridades de salud local también reportaron que hay un custodio fallecido por Covid-19 y nueve infectados más. Uno de ellos se reporta como grave y está conectado a un ventilador mecánico en la clínica 110 del Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social (IMSS).
Pese a que las autoridades de seguridad y de salud implementaron mecanismos de bioseguridad en el penal desde el 22 de marzo, la enfermedad se manifestó el 27 de abril.
Hasta el momento, el saldo del coronavirus en México es de 35,022 casos acumulados desde el 27 de febrero y 3,465 decesos, de acuerdo con el último reporte de la Secretaría de Salud (SSa) anunciado este 10 de mayo durante la conferencia vespertina en Palacio Nacional.
El Gordo May llevaba recluído 11 años y 5 meses y el deceso fue confirmado por elementos del Servicio Médico Forense (Semefo). Era considerado un interno de alta peligrosidad. El juez Tercero de Distrito en materia Penal de la entidad le dictó una sentencia de 37 años al encontrarlo culpable de delincuencia organizada, portación de armas de fuego de uso exclusivo del ejército, y por su responsabilidad en la decapitación de 12 personas.
