Un hombre que sobrevivió al 11-S y al cáncer, dejó el hospital tras vencer al coronavirus.

Robert Marrero, un socorrista que sobrevivió a los atentados del 11 de setiembre del 2001 en Estados Unidos y al cáncer, abandonó el hospital de Pasco, en Florida, tras vencer al coronavirus.
Al ser dado de alta luego de un mes de internación, el personal sanitario del Centro Médico Regional de Bayonet Point despidió entre aplausos a este hombre de 58 años. «Estoy tan feliz. Estamos tan felices de tenerlo en casa”, manifestó su hija Jenny Marrero tras ver a su padre salir del hospital.
Marrero, sobreviviente de cáncer de próstata y primer socorrista del 11 de setiembre “estuvo intubado y puesto en coma inducido médicamente” durante unos 19 días. En ese tiempo, no se permitió que ningún familiar lo visite.
“El dolor que mi familia y yo tuvimos que soportar estos últimos 36 días es inimaginable. Ni siquiera puedo explicar las noches en que escuché a mi madre llorar hasta quedarse dormida. No saber lo desconocido es lo que más nos mató”, relató Jenny. “Estábamos realmente tristes y con el corazón roto, pero tratamos de mantener una actitud positiva y oramos mucho”.
Después de más de un mes, Robert Marrero volvió a su casa. “Me siento un poco mejor, poder hablar un poco mejor. No puedo caminar, así que tengo que comenzar a dar pequeños pasos», contó.
La familia Marrero agradeció el trato que recibió por parte del hospital. “Me cuidaron y me amaron, ese personal fue increíble», contó el hombre de 58 años.
