Trump ofrece ayuda a Putin ante rápido aumento de casos de coronavirus en Rusia
Rusia se ha convertido en los últimos días en el quinto país más afectado por el coronavirus en todo el mundo. Estados Unidos, que lidera la lista en número de caso y fallecidos, le ofreció su apoyo.
Donald Trump ofreció este miércoles ayuda para combatir el coronavirus a Vladímir Putin durante una llamada en la que también insistió en pedirle negociar a tres bandas con China y con él para «evitar una costosa carrera armamentística». El presidente de Estados Unidos habló con su homólogo de Rusia para conmemorar el 75 aniversario del Día de la Victoria en Europa durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial, cuando los Aliados aceptaron la rendición incondicional de Alemania, que se celebra este viernes 8, según informó la Casa Blanca en un comunicado.
«Los presidentes Trump y Putin hablaron sobre los avances a la hora de derrotar la pandemia del coronavirus. El presidente Trump reiteró que Estados Unidos sigue trabajando duro para cuidar a los estadounidenses y que también está listo para proporcionar ayuda a cualquier país que lo necesite, incluida Rusia», indicó la Casa Blanca. Según la Organización Mundial de la Salud (OMS), Rusia se ha convertido en los últimos días en el quinto país del mundo más afectado por la pandemia, tras Estados Unidos, España, Italia y el Reino Unido.
El coronavirus se agrava en Rusia
La Casa Blanca no aclaró si Vladímir Putin aceptó la oferta de ayuda de Donald Trump, que en las últimas semanas ha hablado con líderes de todo el mundo para ofrecerles asistencia, sobre todo respiradores. Aunque Estados Unidos es de lejos el país más afectado por la pandemia, con más de 1,2 millones de contagios y 73 500 muertes, y que algunos líderes estatales se quejan aún de dificultades para acceder a tests y equipos de protección personal, el presidente ha asegurado que su país es «el rey de los respiradores» y tiene más que suficientes máquinas para ofrecerlas a otras naciones.
Control de armas
Donald Trump y Vladímir Putin también hablaron en su llamada sobre cómo negociar un modelo de control de armas «eficaz», y el líder estadounidense insistió en que ese posible pacto debe incluir «también a China», a pesar de que Pekín ha rechazado un posible pacto trilateral. El mandatario «se mostró deseoso de iniciar conversaciones para evitar una costosa carrera armamentística» entre Estados Unidos y Rusia, explicó la Casa Blanca.
