Se iban a casar y las encuentran muertas dentro del auto
Stephanie Mayorga y Paige Escalera habían desaparecido hace tres semanas.
El 15 de abril Stephanie Mayorga, de 27 años, y Paige Escalera, de 25, una pareja que estaba comprometida para casarse, desapareció en extrañas circunstancias. Las últimas imágenes de ellas habían sido difundidas por una cámara de vigilancia. En las últimas horas, los cuerpos de ambas fueron encontrados en un bosque, en estado de descomposición. Estaban en el interior del vehículo.
La policía de Wilmington, en el estado de Delaware, Estados Unidos, concluyó que no se trató de una desaparición voluntaria porque no se habían llevado ninguna de sus pertenencias e incluso el perro que tenían las esperaba en casa. El celular de Paige se había quedado sobre la cama y el de Stephanie figuraba apagado.

Aún no hay respuestas claras sobre la circunstancia de la muerte, si se trató de un homicidio, un accidente o un suicidio. El jefe de policía local dijo que el auto fue encontrado justo después de las 3 pm del lunes «en lo profundo del bosque» en la intersección de Independence Blvd. y River Road, cerca del río Cape Fear en el suroeste de Wilmington.
Con base en los registros de un llamado al número de emergencia 911, la policía ahora cree que el automóvil pudo haber estado involucrado en un «choque de velocidad extremadamente alta» en la noche en que Mayorga y Escalera desaparecieron.
«Cuando el 15 de abril llegaron los primeros policías a la zona, se encontraron con la persona que llamó y registraron el área con linternas. Sin embargo, no pudieron encontrar ninguna señal de choque y nadie con lesiones «, aclaró la policía local.
El caso sigue bajo investigación y no se publicaron más detalles, pero la policía señaló que ahora también incluirán en la investigación la hipótesis del accidente de tránsito.
