Corea del Sur confirmó casi 1.600 casos de coronavirus
Miles de ciudadanos solicitaron la destitución del mandatario Moon Jae-in por su inacción ante la emergencia.
Autoridades sanitarias surcoreanas confirmaron 334 nuevos contagios del peligroso coronavirus chino. La cifra eleva a casi 1.600 el total de infectados. La situación ha sido calificada como “muy grave” por el mandatario Moon Jae-in que ha activado la alerta a su máximo nivel.
El Centro Coreano para el Control y Prevención de Enfermedades se refirió a los 307 diagnósticos en la ciudad de Daegu, en el sureste del país. La mayoría de los pacientes están vinculados a la Iglesia de Jesús Shincheonji,que ha prestado servicios religiosos en esa región.
Esta semana, miles de ciudadanos solicitaron a través de Internet la destitución del mandatario Moon Jae-in argumentando su inacción ante la emergencia.
El dirigente incluso se mostró renuente al cierre de fronteras y restringir el ingreso de viajeros provenientes de China, donde surgió el coronavirus.
Por el momento todo ciudadano sur-coreano utiliza tapabocas para protegerse del letal virus.
Entre otras medidas, el gobierno surcoreano confirmó la suspensión definitiva de los ejercicios militantes previstos por el Estado Mayor Conjunto y el Mando de Fuerzas Combinadas Corea del Sur- Estados Unidos.
El secretario de Defensa, Mark Esper, confirmó el contagio de un soldado estadounidense que visitó las instalaciones militares en Daegu. Sin embargo, insistió en que ambos países están capacitados para combatir la propagación.
Desde la Casa Blanca, el presidente Donald Trump desestimó la gravedad de la emergencia sanitaria y se mostró confiado en la pronta desaparición del virus. También arremetió contra los medios de comunicación por infundar temor en la población y hasta en el mercado financiero.
“Estados Unidos está muy muy preparado para atacar la enfermedad”.
Confirmó en una rueda de prensa que realizó el presidente de los Estados Unidos.
