Según las autoridades, los machos dominantes tienden a expulsar a otros cocodrilos de sus territorios, lo que provoca que estos se desplacen a lugares donde normalmente no se ven.
Con la llegada de la temporada de apareamiento de cocodrilos y el aumento de las lluvias, el Sistema Nacional de Áreas de Conservación (Sinac) y el Ministerio de Ambiente y Energía (Minae) han emitido una advertencia sobre la presencia de estos reptiles en diversas zonas del país. Según las autoridades, los machos dominantes tienden a expulsar a otros cocodrilos de sus territorios, lo que provoca que estos se desplacen a lugares donde normalmente no se ven.
Los cocodrilos, que habitan tanto en la vertiente Pacífica como en la Atlántica de Costa Rica, pueden estar presentes en cualquier cuerpo de agua, ya sea dulce, salada o salobre. Esto significa que se debe tener extrema precaución en ríos, esteros, pozas y playas para evitar encuentros peligrosos con estos animales.
Las autoridades insisten en la importancia de seguir estas recomendaciones para evitar situaciones peligrosas con estos animales, especialmente en zonas propensas durante esta época del año.
