Reformas a la ley de armas: Diputados buscan sanciones más severas
En un esfuerzo por reforzar la seguridad y controlar la posesión ilegal de armas, la Comisión de Seguridad y Narcotráfico de la Asamblea Legislativa ha dado un paso significativo al dictaminar un proyecto de ley que aumenta las penas por este delito. Esta nueva iniciativa se produce en un contexto donde la preocupación por la violencia armada se encuentra en aumento en el país.
Además, si el arma es propiedad de otra persona y ha sido reportada como robada o extraviada, la pena podría incrementarse en hasta un tercio. Por otro lado, en situaciones donde el arma haya sido objeto de receptación, la sanción se agrava aún más, llegando a ser hasta un 50% más severa.
El proyecto también busca penalizar a aquellos que porten un arma de fuego debidamente inscrita, pero sin el permiso correspondiente del Departamento de Control de Armas y Explosivos, imponiendo penas de 2 a 4 años de prisión. Asimismo, se establecerá la obligación de los propietarios de armas de reportar cualquier sustracción ante el Organismo de Investigación Judicial (OIJ). Quienes no lo hagan podrían enfrentarse a una pena de 3 a 6 meses de prisión.
Ahora que la Comisión ha aprobado este dictamen, la propuesta será discutida en el plenario legislativo, donde se espera que continúe su camino hacia convertirse en ley.
